Boudoir FAQ
Will my pictures be posted on the internet?
We respect your privacy and pictures are not posted without your written permission. We normally transfer digital images to clients through a secure login on our e-commerce site that can only be reached through a link that is unique to you. It is password protected and blocked from search engines.
Arrangements can be made to transfer digital images on a USB thumb drive.
How long is a typical session?
A typical session is approximately 4 hours, including hair and make-up and the shoot itself.
How many pictures will we get?
We aim for between 20-30 pictures with 3-5 different looks. You are not obligated to purchase any but I would hope you will want them all.
Will I get high resolution digital files.
Individual digital files are available for purchase. There is no charge for digital files for any prints purchased, including any photos in albums and books.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, we can arrange a payment schedule that meets your needs. The normal schedule is:
A deposit at the time of booking the shoot.
The remainder of session fee and any extra's (i.e. special location fees) prior to or on the day of the shoot.
Payment for any products at the order session.
How much re-touching do you do?
Our re-touching philosophy is very minimal. This is why having a professional hair and make-up artist is so important. Additional retouching services are available on a fee for service basis.
Do I need to be naked?
No. Boudoir shoots typically have a sensual/intimate theme, that's all. You are in control of the wardrobe. There is no requirement for any level of undress but lingerie is common. During the consultation call we will discuss your desires and comfort level. These photos are for you. Some clients want some nudity, ranging from artistic nudes, anonymous nudes (where the subject is not recognizable), to silhouettes behind a sheer fabric. The choice is yours.
What should I do to prepare for the shoot?
Prior to the consultation call, I will e-mail you a Boudoir Do's and Don'ts sheet. Some of the keys are:
Do's
Get a good night's sleep.
Moisturize, the camera loves skin with a glow.
If you work out regularly, do only the normal workouts on the week of the shoot. You don't want any muscle stiffness to show through.
Get your nails done (fingers and toes.)
If you colour your hair, do retouch roots if needed.
Remove tags from sheer or lace garments.
Come ready to have FUN!
Don'ts
No new haircuts right before the shoot, see note regarding maintenance of colour, above.
No fake tans immediately before the shoot. You don't want an all black and white shoot because the tan was not the colour you expected.
No Botox or collagen injections the week before the shoot.
No negative self-talk allowed once you arrive.
